Friday 9th December   Adelaide    Rob’s Birthday

Can’t believe we woke to RAIN which scuppered our plans to go on a boat trip from Port Adelaide to see dolphins & seals. So a quick rethink & off to Mount Lofty which is what it says on the can ! Lofty indeed ! Great walks, scenery & views, but we just took a short circuit, admired  the  panorama & retreated for a coffee. As the rain eased off, we went on to Cleland Wildlife Park. Roaming free are kangaroos, wallabies, bandicoots  & emus.  Pelicans, ibis, cormorants, many varieties of duck & other wildfowl are gathered on the lake.  In open enclosures are koala, echidna, wombats, monitors, Tasmanian devils & dingos   The animals are so used to people that you can feed them by hand. What an experience! This has to be the best Birthday treat ever.

We came back via the German town of Hahndorf, very picturesque.

Off to break open the sparkling to celebrate the birthday.

  1. Happy Birthday Rob - what a way to spend it! You two would make great travel presenters - we are with you every step of the way.
