The Blue ( & Grey ) Mountains

As expected  we awoke to rain & mist & 14 c According to our neighbours in the room next door, weather like this isn't usual & Jan temps are normally high 30's up here.....ah well, we're British! We 're used to it!  Wasn't planning on wearing  my gloves till we got back to Manchester!

This is Sublime Point Lookout...... mmmm.....sublimely cloudy!

No point in sulking, so off to Leura to have a coffee, warm up, dry off & have a mooch round the shops. Lovely as they were, that wasn't what we'd come to do, so off we set again on to Wentworth Falls, a bit lower down & maybe better visibility here.
A good plan, as the rain was subsiding & the sky looked a little brighter. Several walks start from here & you can do the National Pass 3 - 4 hours, steep descent down the cliff  along the ledge 200m above the valley. We took the easier option & did a 90 min circular walk to the top of the Wentworth Falls via the Undercliff Ttrack, it was breathtaking in all senses of the word & slippery underfoot, but brilliant. The National Pass will have to wait till our next visit!

The Wentworth Falls from Princes Rock lookout. The height of the falls is 187 m

Undercliff  Track  - a sheer drop to the right.

At the top of the falls - you walk over stepping stones to get across.

Late afternoon & the weather was the best its been all day, so back to Katoomba & Echo Point to capture the elusive Three Sisters.

The Giant Stairway made of steel & stone leads down & crosses over to the first of the sisters.

What views we had from here, but not for the faint hearted!
