Rainforest, marine wetlands & beach
Breakfast & a chat with a couple of locals, then on to another walk in the rainforest to Cyathea Falls & Tarra Falls. A spectacular drive up there with views over the ridge. Cool in the shade of the forest, the plants are lush.
.
We travelled on down the valley & south to Port Albert, a pristine little harbour that had been the gateway to Eastern Australia in the mid to late 1800's.
The area that runs east from here is Nooramunga Marine & Coastal Park, vast expanses of marine wetlands & mud flats where thousands of migratory birds come in late spring to feed & breed before their epic migration to Russia, Siberia & Canada.
We saw white faced herons, great egret, australian white ibis, comorants & pelicans.
We ended the day on Woodside Beach the start of a 90 mile beach that stretches up to Lake's Entrance where we're headed tomorrow.
