En route to Lakes Entrance

Waking to a misty start in Balook, we decided to give the early morning walk with Steve & Nicki a miss & had a lie in instead! The weather soon cleared & as we left Lyre Bird Cafe & guest house the sun was burning off the cloud..  Sad to leave this remote little hamlet & the wonderful rainforest, but looking forward to the next new place to explore  A 200km to drive  to Australia's largest inland waterways. The Gippsland Lakes are a network of lakes, marshes & lagoons covering 400 sq km. Separated from the ocean with coastal dunes known as 90 Mile Beach.
Driving through pine forests & then farmland reminiscent of England, passing through Sale & Bairnsdale & detouring to Paynesville.  We caught the ferry across to Raymond Island for a walk & some koala spotting.

Arriving at Lakes Entrance, we found our accommodation - a stunning, modern apartment with panoramic views!   WOW!
The photo doesn't do it justice.

We have free use of canoes...... mmm......I don't think so! You know me & canoes!!

(Struggling with internet connection here so importing photos is taking forever! May have to add more at a later stage )
